WAYS TO TEACH There are many methods that teachers use to teach: Lecturing, Group projects, Essay writing, Group discussion, Movies, Field trips, Games, One on one tutoring. These are methods that have been proven to be effective. Teachers should always be looking for other ways to incorporate what they are learning into a fun activity or analytical assignment. IMPORTANTANCE OF EXTRA-CURICULAR ACTIVITIES Another component to the education system is extra-curricular activities. These activities usually take place after school and are arranged by the school. Activities include: Sports activities, Musical activities, Academic activities, Artistic activities, Tutoring programs. Many students enjoy playing sports or a musical instrument after school. There are many benefits to having after school programs which keep children out of trouble, give them a chance to pursue their hobbies, relieve stress, and to enjoy the rest of their day. TUTORING AND MENTORING PROGRAMS Another component of the education system are tutoring and mentoring programs. These programs were designed to help students improve in areas where they are weak. Mentors can be people students feel comfortable talking to and learning from. Many tutoring programs offer one on one tutoring by other students who will work with an advisor. Although these programs are not available in all schools, the ones that have them increase their overall test scores and have shown overall improvement in the attitudes of its students. TESTING Nationwide testing is one way to measure the success of schools. Different grade levels are given tests each year that test knowledge, critical thinking and problem solving skills, conceptual thinking, math, reading, and science skills. These tests are used to show improvement in certain areas and also where the educational system needs improvement.
